2 Good Wines from Unexpected Places – Corks ‘n’ Forks Tasting Tour – 6.30pm Thursday 20 November
Many long-standing Corks ‘n’ Forkers will recall we last held a similar tasting tour back in 2016. It was a cracking success back then, and we anticipate this year’s production will be no different.
Ian Cook from Five Way Cellars in Paddington has agreed to supply the wines, which will be sourced from good long-standing producers in places and regions not usually associated here in Australia with the wonderful world of wine. Ian has yet to finalise the list, however to give you a ‘taste’ I can report that back in 2016 we enjoyed wines from Crete, Slovenia, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Romania, Lebanon, Uruguay, Madeira and Japan. England, Austria and Germany may also be represented, along with several regions in Australia we don’t often hear about.
In all there’ll be around 10 wines served in three brackets – one white, two red, matched to three food courses chosen by the Club’s Executive Chef Dimitry Rode to complement the wines.
For those who’ve not been before, our tasting/tours are relaxed, informal and educative evenings designed to appeal to those members and their guests seeking an introduction to the wonderful world of wine or to expand their existing knowledge. This tasting will be a unique opportunity to evaluate, compare and enjoy a range of differing wines from unexpected places, and I encourage you to mark the date in your diary and contact the Club to make a preliminary booking.
