Lesley Potter is a retired nurse, who worked as a midwife at Westmead Hospital for almost 40 years. Currently the president of the Randwick & District Historical Society, her interest in history led to the publication of ‘Mistress of Her Profession’ - the story of midwives who lived and worked between Sydney and the Hawkesbury from 1788 to 1900; with a focus on their personal lives and their midwifery practices.
