By any measure our Bastille Dinner was a great success. The ISC Room resembled a Parisienne bistro with themed table decorations, lighting and music, and the 36 of us who were there had a wonderful time. The bespoke menu specially prepared by the Club’s Executive Chef and his team and the matching wines were exemplary, as was the service provided by the Club’s floor team.
Highlights included our Q&A session with the Chef, the wine options game won by Graham Spurway, and the best dressed prizes awarded to Qi Shen and Roger Butler.
Our next event for the year is a tasting/tour in the seated comfort of the Vintage Room at 6pm on Thursday 23 August, and on this occasion we’ve decided to do something a little different and have what we’re calling a ‘Bring a Bottle Night’. There’ll still be 12 wines to taste with 3 matching food courses; however what will be different is that the 12 wines will (hopefully) be donated by Club members. We have in mind wines at least 5 years’ old, which will be served ‘blind’ in 3 flights each of 4 wines – 1 flight of whites and 2 flights of reds. Steve Blandford, the Club’s popular and very knowledgeable wine consultant will be there to guide us through the vinous maze and help us to discuss and identify each of the wines.
So if you’ve got a couple of older wines in your cellar that you’d like to share with your ‘mates’, then I’d like to hear from you. You can contact me on 0411 103 119 or [email protected]
As to pricing, the usual price for our tasting/tours is $90 per person. However given there’ll be no cost to the Club for the wines, the cost per head for our ‘Bring a Bottle Night’ will be $80.
